Gallery Descriptions

The Box Bag – Make the bags in African fabrics. Starting clockwise from bottom left is a 16-patch bordered mini bag sewn in West African indigo tie-dyed cotton and red silk dupioni fabrics, next is an original size snail’s trail quilt block bag sewn in tie-dyed cotton damask called Bazin from Mali, and the front of the next original size bag is made with wax printed cotton cloth from Cote D’Ivoire. Slides are painted or dyed to match fabrics. (back to Gallery)

The Box Bag - Here are three sizes of the bag sewn using the same printed cotton fabrics. The bag in the lower right is a custom size, and employs a centered motif stamped on silk dupioni fabric. (back to Gallery)

The Box Bag – This bag can look formal or funky depending on your fabric choices. The bordered original size bag on the left is made from West African print fabrics. The one on the right is pin woven silk dupioni, and was designed for a wedding party. (back to Gallery)
The Box Bag - Both of these bags utilize the original paper-pieced square rose design included with the pattern. The bag on the left is out of silk dupioni and hand-dyed fabric, and the bag on the right is pieced with different colors of Thai silks. (back to Gallery)
The Box Bag - This bordered bag is pieced with a traditional quilt block in the popular fabric line from Moda called Paris Flee Market. The strap is made of covered cording with a domed wood slide to match fabric. (back to Gallery)
There is no end to how creative you can be by using different sewing techniques. Thai silks are used in this example of dimensional patchwork. Strips of contrasting fabric are inserted between strips of the base fabric and then twisted. (back to Gallery)

Starting clockwise from left is a pin woven bag in dupioni silks, the next bag employs a combination of red silk dupioni and cotton print fabrics with the pinwheel quilt block included in the pattern, and the next bag is sewn with Thai silks utilizing the 16-patch block included in the pattern. The Box Bag - These original size bags use traditional 6-inch quilt blocks, and are made out of cotton prints and hand-dyed fabrics. The straps are made of covered cording, and knotted. (back to Gallery)
This custom size bag with purchased cording and narrow border is made out of silk dupioni. A design is stamped on the inserted front motif. (back to Gallery)
The Box Bag - These Asian inspired bags utilize domestic and imported Japanese fabrics. The bordered bag on the left has a pieced center motif, and a creative slide made of copper pipe. The other bag is made with the original paper-pieced square rose design included in the pattern. (back to Gallery)
The Box Bag - This beautiful original size bag is pin woven out of strips of Thai silk fabrics. It takes a little more time to make than some bags, but the results are spectacular. (back to Gallery)

Beginning clockwise from the lower left is a double pinwheel block, next is a bordered bag made from whole cloth silks and sashiko quilted, and the last bag employs the original paper-pieced square rose design included in the pattern.
